"New friends?" you ask. Yep, that's right...I'm not Tom.  I am actually the new Aqua Vivus business manager, Rachel. I'm the one who takes care of the biz-ness, scheduling, and client relations. Basically I'll be your main contact at Aqua Vivus as we prepare for your wedding. SOOOO, I thought that this blog post would be the perfect time for me to introduce myself (just in case you're wondering who this Rachel girl is that keeps emailing you). Oh, and introductions go both ways so feel free to email me at rachel{at}aquavivus{dot}com and say hi!

Today we have for you the wedding trailer of the FABULOUS Erica and Kyle, and fabulous this couple is indeed. I think if I were to sum up this wedding in 4 words they would be "meant for each other." It was so obvious throughout the day, just from the way they interacted and from the words that were spoken of them, that they perfectly compliment one another and make each other a better person (ingredients for a successful marriage if you ask me). Oh man, and that Erica! STUNNING!! Her veil, her dress (which was designed by her sister btw) TO DIE FOR. Ok ok, I could go on for a very long time, but wouldn't want to scare you off just when we're getting to know each other. I'll end this post with a few words the bride's sister Allison shared with me about the day because it just describes it perfectly. HOWEVER, before that I just want to say, nice to meet you all my new friends and looking forward to many more blog posts (and emails!) to come! Now, the words of the lovely Allison


"It is hard to put into words how incredibly perfect Erica and Kyle's wedding was.  The entire day was consumed by an overwhelming excitement about how much these two love each other and how perfect they are for one another!  It was so fun! I have never seen a more beautiful bride.  She was breathtaking!  Every detail of the day was perfect from the location right on the beach, to the way Kyle looked at Erica when he was saying his vows, to the guests, to everyone who made everything come together and run so smoothly!  It was nothing short of magical!"  ~Allison, bride's sister extraordinaire

Skyler and Brianna are friends of mine and it was a pleasure to make this movie for them.  The wedding took place in Dixon California, way out in the country.  Some highlights for me include Brianna's ride down the aisle on horseback (never seen that before), the gorgeous sunset, and a sweet dance floor complete with a star ceiling.

Justin and Stacy were kind enough to let me try out my new service on them.  It was definitely a hit!  The ceremony and reception went down at the Thursday Club in Point Loma.  It was great seeing lots of friends there and meeting some new people too.  I had the pleasure of working with these fine folks:

I'm really excited for this post.  Why you ask?  It marks the beginning of a new service Aqua Vivus Productions is offering called the "Same Day Premiere".  It is something that we have been working the kinks out of for the past year - now it's ready to roll!  The Same Day Premiere is so awesome words cannot describe it, but I'll try.  We shoot the wedding how we normally do, capturing all the best moments and getting as creative as possible.  Then right after the ceremony one of our talented editors starts piecing it together while our shooters cover the reception.  The night goes on and before you know it, it's time to leave - but not so fast, this is when it's time to show the Same Day Premiere!  We'll work with the DJ and MC for a seamless transition into the video.  It's quite an emotional experience to re-live the day with all the people you love most watching along with you.  It's pretty much the perfect ending to a perfect day.  After several more hugs, the night is over and everyone goes home...but we're not done yet.  We put the video online for everyone to enjoy the very next day!  It's the perfect way to connect with those who couldn't make it to the wedding. Now onto the video at hand:

Kelli and Sam were so awesome!  They agreed to be our test subjects for this Same Day Premiere and I think they still weren't quite sure what they were getting into.  Of course, they were absolutely amazed after watching it and very happy.  Kelli is quite the gifted artist herself and she created all the artwork for their save the dates and invitations.  She even let us use some of it for their video!  This was a collaborative effort with my good friend and fellow filmmaker Matt Forrey.  He has his own video production company but shoots for Aqua Vivus Productions pretty regularly.  I (Tom) was in charge of the editing for this piece.  Press the play button, the pause it so it can load all the way before watching it.  If you like it, feel free to leave a comment below!

]]>Illuminationhttp://aquavivus.com/blog/2009/11/6/illumination.htmlTom2009-11-06T16:37:51ZI helped create this promotional piece for the Illumination Art Show.  Andrew Salituri, Mike Green, and Tim Eagerton helped with production, original concept, and design.  We planned to shoot the artists on a green screen but something fell through and we ended up shooting them against a black backdrop with a brown carpet floor.  In post-production I used After Effects CS4 to create the artificial environment with the floating "firefly" artists.  I used Trapcode Particular and Shine to make the thousands of floating orbs around the logo.  If you live in San Diego, check out this art show! ]]>Tyler + Emily Wedding Trailerhttp://aquavivus.com/blog/2009/11/5/tyler-emily-wedding-trailer.htmlTom2009-11-05T16:48:09ZWeddingsYet another collaboration between STUDIOcastillero and yours truly!  We shot this in beautiful Carmel California near the Monterey Bay.  Emily and Tyler were so gracious, they even let us eat dinner with them in their hotel suite before the reception!  That made my day for sure.  For all you techie people reading, I shot this on a combination of the Canon 7D and 5D Mark II, a variety of lenses were used.  All the still photography of course comes courtesy of STUDIOcastillero.  Enjoy!
