Josh + Marci Love Story // Same Day Premiere

Hi everyone!  Matt Forrey here, Cinematographer with Aqua Vivus.  

Since the beginning of Cinema, the impact of storytelling through film continues to grow and inspire generation after generation. It is really awesome to look back over history and see where film has come from, where it is going, and then witness the power and enlightenment that it continues posses over a century later. When the Lumiere brothers, (creators of the first motion picture camera) presented one of their first short films to an audience called, Train Entering a Station, the audience literally leapt out of their seats in shock when the train pulled into the station toward the screen. It was so real to them that they actually thought the train was coming into the theater. It marked the beginning of something new—a new way to capture peoples stories, and harnesses the legacies that they leave behind. Furthermore, what I love so much about documentary is that you can be a part of capturing real legacies from real remarkable people through some of the most memorable moments of their life.

When we presented Josh and Marci’s Same Day Premiere on Saturday as a surprise, (not even the DJ knew we were doing it) the whole crowd just moved. The atmosphere at that moment felt magical. The only thing that was announced was that we were playing a love story video of the bride and groom that we had filmed earlier in the year. Once the love story came to an end and transitioned into images of the wedding day itself, the crowed shuttered in shock and excitement. At that moment when we saw the first clips of the bride and groom on screen, I found myself overwhelmed with emotion. There is something truly magical about seeing the most memorable moments of the wedding day just after they happened during the reception. From the pre-ceremony getting ready shots, to the father of the bride walking his daughter down the aisle, seeing these images at the reception brings something to the celebration that just can’t be explained in words. The moments of the day happen so fast, and I’m so glad that technology is at a place where we can capture these special moments for all to see and reflect on before the night even comes to an end. I’m very glad that we can offer this service to the families we work with.

As we’re transferring, converting, and editing the footage our goal is to get the film to not only a viewable state, but one that captures the imagination and takes you away to a place of nostalgia of all the things that you experience during the wedding.  This can be very challenging sometimes - even stressful. But when I see the faces of the bride and groom and their families after we present the film, it’s absolutely worth it. Tom and I were very honored to be a part of capturing Josh and Marci’s wedding day, and I hope we were able to make it that much more memorable.

Paul + Cori Same Day Premiere

Sometimes the generosity of others can be overwhelming.  Last night was one of those nights where so many people were insanely gracious to us, it just gives me the warm fuzzies.  Huge thanks to all our fellow vendors! Ashley Maxwell, sooo nice and easy to work with!  Rich Amooi, awesome DJ who totally hooked us up at the last second to make this Same Day Premiere sound great!  And the lovely ladies at Testarossa Winery who provided the projection screen, you're all amazing!  Cori and Paul, thanks for having us!  It's funny how you can spend one day with a family and feel like old friends by the end of the night.  We especially enjoyed the cheesburgers, fries, and shakes at the close of the evening!  Here's the movie Cori, I hope your mom enjoys it!

Andrew + Ashley Same Day Premiere

Good (early) morning!

It's 4AM and we just got back from Beverly Hills.  It was a long day but I'm still pumped from the Same Day Premiere we just showed to Andrew and Ashley's family and friends!  The day started off very relaxed and easy going.  Ashley made us feel right at home - like we were part of the family.  As the 6PM ceremony time drew closer, you could feel the sense of urgency rising.  We knew there would be some emotional moments once Ashley walked down the aisle - it would be the first time they saw each other that day.  After the guests all settled in, the Clara Ward Singers welcomed in the bridal party with some lovely tunes.  Andrew must have been in awe as his stunning bride walked down the aisle with her parents by her side.  What a great wedding!  Thanks to the Schneider and Jacobson families for letting us be a part of this fabulous day.  Here's the their Same Day Premiere.

Brad + Amy Same Day Premiere

Spring definitely feels like it has arrived!  Driving over the Altamont Pass to San Ramon California felt like we were driving through the countryside of Ireland.  When we reached our destination there were no Irish to greet us; Brad and Amy are genuine Californians!  They both have that carefree attitude which is one of my favorite things about people on the Left Coast.  I had the chance to meet Brad earlier in the year and we had a great conversation.  Although we had never met before, he was easy to spot with his manly good looks and long hair.  I met Amy this weekend and she is equally as wonderful, they make a fantastic couple!  Hopefully this little wedding film can give you an idea of how fun-loving and sweet these two are.  I present to you, Brad and Amy!
